Dr. K. Sridhar completed his MBBS degree at Kasturba Medical College Manipal / Mangalore in the year 1972. He did his Master Degree in Surgery in 1976. He joined Department of Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery at Stanley Medical College, Madras (Chennai) as the first trainee, under Prof. R. Venkataswami, in the year 1978. He did his M.Ch in Plastic Surgery in the year 1980. In the same year he joined as Assistant Professor at the Institute for Research and Rehabilitation of the Hand, and Department of Plastic Surgery, Stanley Medical College and Hospital at Chennai, where he continued as faculty member until 1993. In the year 1989, he underwent Microsurgery Training at the National University of Singapore (Prof Robert Pho). He joined as Senior Consultant at Apollo Hospital, and also as consultant in VHS Leprosy Project, Sakthi Nagar, Tamil Nadu in the year 1993. He was Senior Consultant and Coordinator, Department of Plastic Surgery, Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, when he decided to join SIMS (SRM Institutes for Medical Science), Vadapalani, Chennai. He has been the lynchpin & flag bearer of the Institution ever since he joined in 2012.
Dr. K. Sridhar is contributing author to numerous books and manuals. He was an Invited Speaker at International Conferences of repute. He devised two new procedures in Leprosy Reconstruction. He is a Former National President at Association of Plastic Surgeons of India and Chairman at Scientific Committee, IPRAS 2009. His special Interests are in Tendon Transfers and Craniofacial Surgery. Presently, he is a Member at State Planning Commission.
He is known for his kind heart and calm disposition. He is extremely dedicated to social service and has been instrumental in the running of Kanchi Sankara Foundation which manages hospitals for the poor. It was through his guidance and continuous motivation that Srinivas Youth Men’s Association (SYMA), an NGO, launched itself into serving the poor with medical services. He is married to Subha with two sons.
