Mr Yaseen Jamal Mohammed, 22 year old young man from Iraq came to SIMS Hospital on 8 November 2016 in a desperate condition. He had met with a road accident whilst driving at 140 km/h in the back seat of a car, with his seat belt unfastened. His right forearm and hand was grievously injured and he had lost much skin and bone. The hospital in Iraq could debride and stabilise his hand, but could not give him the reconstruction he needed. It was in this state that he arrived at SIMS. He had lost skin over forearm and hand, and all the bones of his hand and fingers.
He was taken up for surgery. Skin flap from his
abdomen was used to build up the foream and hand, and at the point of discharge on 26 December 2016, he had a near normal forearm. He may require a further visit to SIMS Hospital when bone from his leg would be taken out to reconstruct and strengthen his right hand. Today Mr Yaseen is a very happy man as he returns home with a renewed right arm.
He is grateful to Dr R Krishnamoorthy,
Senior Consultant, Institute of Craniofacial Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery (ICAPS) and his team for making all this possible.
Mr Praveen Samuel, 38 years old gentleman was brought to SIMS Emergency Department on 13 October 2016 with complaints of vomiting, myalgia and poor intake of food. He had been suffering from secondary biliary cirrhosis since his childhood; at SIMS he came under the care of Dr B S Ramakrishna, who took every possible effort to make him comfortable. After his condition became stable in the Emergency, he was shifted to 4th Floor B Wing (ward) the same day.
However, on 20 October 2016 he was shifted to Surgical ICU in a very critical condition, where he was intubated and put under ventilator support. As days went by, his condition deteriorated despite continuous care by the ICU team. Unfortunately, Mr Praveen Samuel was declared dead on 9 November 2016 at 2.07 pm.
Throughout his ICU stay the family was emotionally cared for and supported by the ICU team with empathy.
Even after losing their beloved son, his parents invited us for the thanksgiving prayer service a week later.
Our ICU team took part in the memorial service as per their wishes. At that moment, we were moved by the words of appreciation offered by the relatives and family of Mr Praveen for our committed and commendable service given to him in the ICU.
I was admitted into SIMS Hospital with very high blood glucose. The treatment at SIMS Hospital was really good. Each and every member of staff took personal care. The nursing care at SIMS was really outstanding.
I would personally like to thank Dr. Sundararaman R for taking personal care and putting me back on my feet.
I came from Puducherry with a lot of pain. The initial treatment in my home town did not work for me. I came with a lot of pain and hope to SIMS Hospital. Dr. Suryanarayanan and his team did a fabulous job.
Now, I am pain free. I would also like to thank the nurses and support staff who took care of me as if I were a part of their family. Thank you SIMS. I will recommend SIMS Hospital to anyone who needs medical support.

My mother (Sasikala) suffered a stroke before she underwent cataract surgery. She had totally lost vision in both eyes. After successful surgery at SIMS Hospital she is now able to visualise everything. Wow what a blissful
experience I had at SIMS Hospital.
I would like to thank Dr. Prativa Misra for her patience and all her support during our stay at SIMS Hospital.
I would also like to thank the support and the nursing staff at SIMS Hospital for the unconditional care given to my mother. My mother is back to normal and we are going home with a smile.
